People in Olivine, however, get to find out exactly what's going on! ...And what's going on would be Captain Ash, proudly riding an uncertain Bouffalant with a bright green afro around the city. Those who take a closer look might even see dozens of flowers, each of them lovingly painted on the Bouffalant's horns with nail polish.

It sure itis. It's been a long time since I last saw one, and I don't think Afrodite ever came this far south before.

I certainly am. Crimsone's in his ball at the moment, but I think that he'll be more open to play than he was back in Ecruteak.

A little. I think having the chance to fry a few Pokémon on the way here helped. He's even started to ask to go to the beach to train.

Having something to do always help to distract, I've found! Pia tends to get along well with a few of the others, although battling doesn't interest her much.

Sociability is a great way to deal with loss. She'll definitely be a good example for him.

The beach is probably best. Since Pia's a Water-type, she should be happier there, right?

[Afrodite nods in agreement to that. Fish always look happier in the water!]

I think you're right about that. She's been enjoying our time here quite a lot; I think she'll miss the beach.

[ in that case, Aradia will start heading that way. ]

[Ash follows, or rather Afrodite does, sniffing the ground as she walks.]

There are a few ponds between Ecruteak and Goldenrod and at least aquatic route east of there, but I guess it wouldn't be the same.

I think it's a different level of water, yes! But I'll keep those places in mind, so she can at least have that.

[ Aradia's walking at an easy pace, apparently unconcerned with Ash riding his pokemon as she walks. ]

It'd still be much better than a bath, if nothing else.

[It's not as if such a sweet bull would take off running and leave her behind. Though Ash does jump off her back on they're closer to the water.]

Which admittedly can be a bit of a mess, when you have larger water pokemon...

[ When they're closer to the water, Aradia will unhook one of her pokeballs from her belt, and release Pia - who happily settles into the shallows, while Indy hangs back from the water, deciding that no, he does not need to get his Gengar self in the water tyvm... ]

If your Pokémon are large enough, anything is a mess.

[Following that, out comes Crimsone. He does look much beter than he did on the Gear, with some weight gained and a more relaxed stance. Immediately, he goes as to Pia as he dares. Water and cats, you know.]

Well, true. I admittedly have quite a few larger ones, but...well, it can't be helped!

[ Pia will actually go to the edge of the shallows to greet Crimsone, and might even be tempted into going up on the sand proper in a little while - though she's making sure to thoroughly enjoy the cool water while she can. She looks fairly good - happy, at least, with her still-new evolution and the joy of a friend reunited. ]

It's not like we can force them to stay small and easy to transport if they don't want to.

[That gets her a few gentle head bumps, though he's very careful to keep his paws on the dry sand. He seems... not quite cheerful, but certainly open to bonding time and other creatures in his space.]

Technically we could with everstones, but...well.

Generally, yes. I have two myself, but they didn't seem to want to evolve and are free to drop the stones whenever they choose - so I assume they like them.

It could be that they have grand plans for their evolutions. Whenever I ask Evo if he'd like a form in particular, he just smirks and starts humming.

With all his secrecy, if I get anything less than a grand dramatic evolution at the most unexpected moment I'll be disappointed.
