Seriously, it has everything needed for perfection: a wobbly video feed, a fluffy lime green afro taking up most of said feed, a Relicanth swiftly swimming away from said afro, and an original score -crashing waves, Eevee screams, the shouts of a hundred furious souls- that matches the action perfectly.]

Ah, government coverups. I almost hope they'd claim that; it would make this world feel just like home.

Well, it doesn't necessarily have to involve the government; after all, does this place even have one?

...It does have a police force along with free health care, though for all we know they might be private...

...it's honestly difficult to say what's behind those, honestly... perhaps they could even be charitable or volunteer organizations? That wouldn't explain everything, though...

It definitely wouldn't explain where they find identical employees, unless they also offer plastic surgeries.

...no, it certainly wouldn't. And even if that was the case... why? It's really quite bizarre.

It might be some sort of tradition, or an homage to the first legendary nurse and policewoman to work in the region, but if that were the case someone would have told us that story by now.

Plus, isn't that taking things too far? ...Maybe they're just some sort of Pokemon, or something...

...They could be Dittos. Do we really want our Pokémon healed by an army of Dittos?

I don't think Ditto are quite that competent. They do seem as much like actual people as any of the other natives outside of their uniformity... isn't there some sort of fox-like Pokemon that's actually very good at imitating humans?

That's Zorua, right? Their imitation might be good, but can that compensate for their lack of opposable thumbs?

I would expect it'd actually be their evolution, Zoroark, but... well, even though those are actually bipedal, they don't have opposable thumbs either. Perhaps there are measures in place so it isn't actually an issue?

It could be that healing Pokémon is a mostly automatized process with only a few button presses necessary, or that all the relevant machinery is adapted to paws. But at that point, human employees would be far less expensive.

If anything, I'd think it'd be a cheaper investment in the long run, particularly if this practice has been going on for several decades and the machinery was designed with Pokemon in mind in the first place.

Even with all those Electric-types around to potentially fry the circuits? The repair costs would add up quickly. Though they'd have figured that out by now and found ways to avoid it, probably...

I'm certain that Electric Pokemon were around long before the technology ever was. I'd imagine that the original inventors would have at least tried to keep things like that in mind while developing these kinds of things.

But did they keep in mind they natural static, or their ability to use Thunder as they wish? That'd make a large difference in the voltage.

Well, it's not like they couldn't just go out and catch something that learns Thunder and use it to test it out, provided they didn't have a Pokemon like that to begin with.

That would be a nice job for any Electric-type. "Do your best to break these machines with your strongest attacks." Who would say no to that?

It's practically stress relief: the job. Of course, I'd imagine they'd have to have a range of types on hand; after all, it's not just Electric Pokemon that would be able to wreak havoc on machinery.

Ideally they'd need a Pokémon for each attack possible attack, possibly with the best possible stats to use those attacks. That would have to take up a lot of their budget.

Not every attack, given that a fair amount of them are stronger or weaker variations on each other. I'm certain that if you had a Snorlax Body Slam a prototype you wouldn't have to bother testing out Tackle or Quick Attack.

Better safe than sorry. Wouldn't it be embarrassing to have a Pokémon Center's brand new equipment destroyed by a tackling Magikarp?

Honestly, if a machine could stand up to a Snorlax and not a Magikarp, I'd think there would be other things I'd be wondering about.

Namely, where could I get a Magikarp like that? It would certainly be nice to have one that wasn't an absolute nightmare to train.

Have you tried the Breeding Center? If there's any place out there that can teach Magikarps a useful attack before birth, that would probably be it.
