If you tell a Vanilluxe that ice cream would be the best dessert for her birthday? You deserve to be frozen to the sidewalk. If you loudly declare the virtues of roasted duck prepared with spring onion around a Farfetch'd? You deserve to have that spring onion shoved up your nose. If you make jokes about using fertilized eggs to make an omelet in front of a Blissey? You deserve to spend the next three hours washing yolk out of your hair.

[Geez, it sure doesn't sound like he had to deal with all three situations over the last week.]

And if you do all of that in front of their trainer? You deserve to get forcibly thrown out of the restaurant. No complaining.

[Or else he'll have to do some hitting, and then no one will be pleased.]

I'd never realized I was so lucky to not have worked in the service industry back home. Seriously, who tells a Blissey who's trying to clear a table that they'd like to eat her future children?

The thick sort who don't spare a bit of thought ta what comes outta their mouth. That's when ya want ta be optimistic of other folk, 'course. Makes me glad I've just been workin' in the kitchens with mine.

They don't think about their words, and they don't think about the Pokémon's reactions either. Then they're actually surprised when they end up receiving an Ice beam to the legs. It almost makes me wish for paperwork to fill instead.

They only have themselves ta blame. Hope ya told them that before ya tossed 'em out.

Have ya thought about helpin' in those Pokecenters? I heard they do a bit of paperwork if ya really don't wanna deal with people.

That'd be great for a few days, but sooner or later the paper would drive me crazier than the clients. Know any store around that's only frequented by sane and decent people? That would be ideal.

[It's a young girl's voice- and really, when she heard it, she laughed like a madwoman. Was he being serious now? But the laughter wasn't really directed at the ironic scenarios.]

But consuming other creatures to live is how the entire ecosystem has functioned since the beginnings of life! So what if you talk about eating their close counterparts in front of them? They should accept they're lower on the food chain. That's just how it works.

[Welp.] I don't see how just saying that makes you 'deserve' anything. It's not like they're stabbing someone and eating them in front of you! Really, you're just way too sensitive, dumb pig. Pokémon are simply animals; they eat each other all the time. So tell me what's so bad about just joking around it!

See, the thing is that we usually don't consume sentient creatures that can understand every single word we say, such as fellow humans. Or Pokémon. And isn't there a difference between, say, knowing that a bear might eat you during a mountain trip and have a guy laugh about eating your babies? The bear is just surviving, but the man is being mean-spirited about it.

Of course, it's different when it comes to humans- murder is disgusting, unless there's a very good reason for it. But that still makes it a crime.

I don't see what's wrong with just telling it to Pokémon, though. So you eat their babies? Their fault for not fighting back harder.

...So, I'm curious. How did you survive your first week without getting eaten by your starter? Because if I said anything like that around my team, within half an hour they'd have thought out a foolproof plan to murder me and hide my body.

Because I disciplined her well! You deserve to get eaten if you can't put your foot down.

[Plus, her starter Ayani was super docile. Whoops.]

I'd like to think that even the most well-disciplined Pokémon would be wary of a trainer that doesn't care about her physical or emotional health. People who'd obey any order even if they know it would kill them and no one would care are terrifying.

Excuse me? That's horrible to say to your pokémon, doesn't matter who you are.

[There's a pause for a moment before she asks a question to clarify since she's a tiny bit confused beyond the righteous indignation.]

That was some third party right?

[He sighs.]

Yeah. It's like every single unpleasant client in Goldenrod comes to this restaurant during the afternoon. You don't want to know what they said about a poor waitress' Combee, right before she quit in tears.

And the owner hasn't said anything? What sort of place are they running.

He did say something about it, but I've met thirteen-year-olds taller than the man, and with a louder voice to boot. He was kind enough to look the other way when Sweet froze the guy who was asking her for vanilla ice cream, though. I guess that's all he felt he could safely do.

[There's a pause followed by a sigh that can only be described as disbelieving.]

It's his restaurant, he could have kicked them out. Was it a large portion of the clientele or just a few people. I understand he has to way his options carefully, but that is taking things a little too far.

Only four or five guys, but they come here every day and eat large meals. Maybe he can't afford to lose their patronage, or maybe he's scared of them.

It sure is. Poor Sweet had to hear that on her birthday, too. I had to promise not to eat ice cream in front of her for a year to cheer her up.

They were all from the same group of people, and of course it's the group that comes here every day for lunch.

Well, I did get to throw them out today. But the owner doesn't dare ban them permanently, since they're regulars that eat a lot.
