My cat evolved a bit later than the Pokédex said she would, and because of that she can now create genuine money out of thin air. Why has the local economy not collapsed yet?

What is the economy really based on, though?

Supply, demand, resources and their value, maybe? I never really studied it, but I do know that too much money makes it less valuable.

See, that sounds like a normal economy and...well, I'm not really sure about some parts of this world, sometimes.

...You know, that's a very good point. Maybe the local economy is influenced by factors we'd normally never think of, and Pay Day is one of those.

At least there is a limit on that move?

There is, but you could theoritically have your Pokémon healed at the Center and use it up all over again.

...That's true! I guess this is one of those mysteries of Johto.

Well, I won't complain about this one. All Pokémon are wortg the time and effort invested in them, but this case is a bit more literal than most.

Haha, you're right there! And I think it's neat. I mean, that there's always something new to learn about them. Even the people native to this place seem to always be learning things.

And good for them, too. Otherwise, those poor professors and teachers would quickly be out of work.

There are a lot of professors, aren't there? I wish they'd hold classes I could attend, or something.

I wish they'd make their research data available to the public, at the very least. Maybe some of it could explain why we receive particular eggs or starters.

That would be a huge help - although I wonder if anyone has asked them about that?

It's a bit hard to do so when their doors are locked and we don't have their Gear numbers. I think those are unlisted.

Ah...so they won't talk to any of us?

Maybe they'd talk if we were particularly persuasive, but I doubt it would be the good kind of persuasive.

And that avenue would probably close more doors than it would open.

And get us in trouble with those nice officers and their impressive-looking Kangaskhans.

Another reason not to try it, yes! I just wonder if asking nicely would yield anything at all.

I wouldn't bet on it, but it can't hurt. The problem would be contacting them in the first place.

...True enough! Although you'd think the Gym Leaders would know how to do so, and we can contact them easily enough, so...

I'll try asking next time against a badge. It should work if I do so politely enough.

Should I attempt as well, if we're going for different gym badges? My next would be - gosh, Cianwood, I guess.

Cianwood? That's the one all the way to the west, right? Maybe they could direct you to local, less known professors.

I believe so! I'll be in Ecruteak next, but I have that badge, and I don't have a team that could stand up to the Elite challenge just yet...
