[The team in question can be heard, yipping and meowing and squawking animatedly. But that all stops the moment Ash takes a deep breath and speaks again.]

[Surprisingly, isolated but loud cheering ensues.]

[He starts mumbling to himself and counting on his fingers. Teddie might want to interrupt, or they'll be there all day.]

[Teddie being...Teddie, allows the counting to go on for a good while. Not because he's actually interested, but more likely because he begins to nod off when he gets bored enough. Eventually he snaps out of it and returns to the waking word, finally deciding to speak up once he realizes he hasn't stopped yet.]

You know, I'd be happy with a simple guesstimate!

[Ash was so intent on counting them out that Teddie's voice startles him, for an instant.]

What? Oh, right. There's about thirty or forty of them in here, so she's in good company.

[How could anyone keep thirty to forty pets?! ...And in an apartment no less! But more importantly-]

[He must have misheard that, or that terrible pun that followed, right? Right?]

At this point, I think they're all voting for themselves. Well, unless the rodents decide to team up too...

If my calculations are all correct, then you only have- [Wait for it. It's Teddie's turn to count on his fingers now.] ...one bear?! You should get more.

[Just do it. Just get more bears because the weird kid on the other end of a call told you to.]

...The other bear-like species aren't Normal-types, though...

[And that earns him indignant shouting from the non-Normal part of his team. So you love us less than the others, trainer??]

Wait, no, that's not how I meant it...!

[Before Teddie could object, he finds himself interrupted by the sudden shouting. Boy, those sure are some angry sounding pokemon... And he thought his got bad.]

I just meant that they haven't caught my eye yet! That's all! Collecting Normal-types doesn't mean I can't appreciate you all as you are. Come on, Honey, don't you enjoy having a unique role in the team?

[Thankfully, they now sound slightly less angry. Looks like Teddie won't become a murder witness today.]

[Maybe next time. Until then, he can only listen to what's going on, only commenting once the group sounds like they've calmed down.]

Why the heck would you only collect one type anyhow?

...For fun? It's more of a challenge than earning all the badges, but at the same time it's not an impossible goal. It's not like I only train Normal-types; the only type I'm missing right now is Fighting.

[His Normal-types snort at that. Fine, that's one type they don't need around.]

[The same sort of snort seems to come from Teddie.]

Trust me, that is the one type you don't wanna have.

[And out of nowhere, the shouting of a very disgruntled creature can be heard on his end. Someone apparently disagrees.]

Your Pokémon might, but I don't. Is there an interesting story involved? Destruction of property, a prank gone wrong?

[All his Pokémon are now silent, hoping to hear more about this.]

UGH, it was un-bear-able! [One could practically hear him drag his hands down his face.] The moment she hatched from her cute little eggie, it was nothing but biting and hitting and more biting. And she haaaated lamps! I dunno why! Just knocked down every lamp every time we stayed at an inn.

Of course after she got all big, she got better, but that doesn't mean I'd ever do that again!

[Another roar of disdain echoes in the background. The lamps had it coming.]

...See, I can understand the biting, no matter how excessive it could be, but why the lamps? Did some sort of lamp-Rotom insult her mother, or what?

[Obviously that particular grudge runs very deep, somehow.]

I-I think she just liked to watch me clean it up.

[And get yelled at by management. And pay for the replacement.]

...I'm sorry your days of gently caring for her egg led to you having to deal with a budding sadist who delights in your misery.

But it's just like I said, she's much better now that she got all big. ...Which is kinda weird since she also looks a lot meaner... But we've been totally household-item-related-incident free for awhile now!

So unless you got cash to spare, I really wouldn't get yourself a fighting type. They're called that for a reason.
