[A Luxio can be seen staring out a window, a few metres away. It looks pretty down, even though an Audino is trying to talk to it.]

Does anyone have any ideas how to cheer up a Pokémon who's lost his trainer? Raven's been...

[Gone? Sent home? Split from her team in a manner that might well be permanent?]

...It's been almost a week since she left, and he hasn't eaten a proper meal since then. I'm worried he'll get sick if this keeps going. Think some traveling would help?

[Nothing else he's tried has, and he's starting to run out of ideas.]

I think that's a 'yes, please' to the playdate. Where are you staying at the moment?

We're currently in Cianwood, planning to go to Olivine...well, in the near future. If that puts you out too much, I'm sure she wouldn't mind being transferred to you for a while. I'm afraid I can't recall where you are just now...

[ Give her a second and Aradia will locate "she" - Pia, once a shiny Feebas and now a shiny Milotic. ]

Pia, I believe this is one of your companions?

[ Aradia doesn't speak pokemon, but there's a certain amount of interest from the Milotic as she looks at the screen. Seems legit. ]

...Ecruteak, planning to go to Olivine in the near future. Looks like that works out surprisingly well. Is this one of your friends, Crimsone?

[He doesn't really need to ask, though, with the way Crimsone is now sniffing at the screen and trying to rub against it.]

Ah, that's actually terrific! We should be leaving within the week. You?

[ Aradia shifts where she's sitting - cross-legged on her bed in the inn - to allow the Milotic to join her and stare at the screen as well. There's some soft Mil, Milo, Mil coming in the form of speech, and it seems happy enough.

Then again, being split up from all your friends after losing your trainer...Aradia had seen it happen before. They missed one another. ]

Crimsone, hm? ...So were you and Raven good friends?

Within the next day or two, but since we'll be walking it'll probably take a while before we reach the city.

[Especially if he tries to catch Normal-types along the way. Spoilers: He will.

Crimsone doesn't quite look happy, but he definitely looks happier, and that's as much as Ash could hope for at this point.]

I don't know if good friends is the term for it. We first met when we camped together during that snowstorm, spoke over the Gear a few times, met in person again at that party...

We'll be taking the ferry, so...it'll be a day and a half, from when we leave.

Pia just continues to talk to Crimsone under the chatter of their trainers - offering comfort, maybe? Or talking about her day, or the new place she's found herself in - wondering about the others. ]

Ah...that sounds like how I knew her. I think we were friends, though. I'll miss her.

You'll definitely be there before me. How much time does that save over surfing there?

[Slowly but surely Crimsone talks back, mostly about their old teammates. Surely they must be somewhere out there too, right?]

...So will I. We may not have known each other much, but she was a familiar face. I'm starting to appreciate those a lot more than usual.

Several days, I think? I just know it's the faster way, so I didn't calculate beyond that.

[ Pia doesn't know about the others; there weren't many of them. Melody the Swablu, Corva the Murkrow, a baby Charmander...and the two of them.

She hasn't seen any of them since, until now. ]

I am, as well. Getting to know people here - it's rather nice, I think, although people do leave and arrive with...well, no warning for the former.

Maybe taking it and going for Fly first would be worth it, then...

[Neither has he. Not that he's really looked at the Pokégear since they were all separated, but his new trainer has, and none of them have ever...]

No warning for the latter, either. Maybe we just haven't figured the potential pattern yet.

Fly's a pretty useful thing to have! I'd offer you the use of my HM, but you need the badge to use it, don't you?

Well, people do seem to show up every two weeks, or thereabouts.

I think it's the Zephyr badge, right? I already have that one.

Yeah, but even then they're a bit spread out, aren't they? Some of them show up at the beginning of the week, others at the end...

Maybe it's some sort of bureaucratic issue. Those can explain a lot of things.

It's not a problem at all! My friends used to lend me their HMs all the time, before I got my own versions.

A bureaucratic issue...? Haha, I suppose it could be, although it makes you wonder how much is really known about how we get here by the people of this world.

The Gym leaders I've met know nothing, and neither do the nurses. But I completely forgot to ask the people in New Bark Town. They see us coming all the time, so they might know more, right?

Perhaps we should ask one of the new arrivals to cross-question the New Bark natives?

We'd have to reach them quickly, before they get thrown out. Or find someone that was here before and knows what's happening.

Breeders don't need badges in order to utilizes HMs outside of battle! ...It makes things a bit easier, as you might imagine.
