20th treasure [text]

The only guests to my anniversary party were a big bunch of Krabbys, and they were only there for the food. I guess even after a whole year here, you can still reach new lows. That's actually kinda reassuring, in a very twisted way.

Ketchup isn't bad for crabs, right? Some of them are starting to look a little pale.

Ah! Welcome to the club, then. It's been a year and some change for me.

Some can I think? It's like any kind of animal I guess. I'd say it might seem weird for big crab beasties to have allergies but after a while you kinda just stop seeing things as weird, y'know?

Afraid to say it's always BYOB, man. Nice as it'd be for somebody to just show up on your doorstep with a prize basket you're on your own for it.

You'd think it would be pretty scary to realize how little actually surprises you about living here after a while but as long as it's not about the ledges pretty much everything follows some kinda logic.

Bummer, if you were anywhere nearby I'd say I've had gigs at some pubs in a few cities and might go with ya. On the way between places or just doing some adventuring?

I really don't think so...they're like the one thing that makes absolutely zero sense here and other than just ignoring them I don't think anybody's ever managed to figure out why ledges are where logic and physics go to die.

Looking for new species? Is that what you enjoy doing normally or is it a wild itch? I've never been to the Whirl Islands. I'm about to give getting the badge and HM a go though.

Y'know on a good day I'd say all of that is just being paranoid, but given the stuff that's been happening within the last year I'm not all that sure you aren't dead on. The sense of humor was my guess, but being haunted probably ain't that far off either.

Normal-types specifically? That sounds interesting... Why that type if you don't mind me asking?

Man, I'm not even sure what kinda place we all ended up in but if it's secretly like super malevolent or something I don't even know how I'd react anymore.

You got a point there. The only normal types I've run into are the ones out in the wild. Never ended up catching any, though. Not for any particular reason either. I've got a pretty varied team, just never had a Normal-type join up with us.

Seriously, that and the two or three times the world's almost ended in just the year I've been here. You might've been around for that weird viral outbreak that had everybody turning half-mon for a while...and then there was the freak thing with the quake and snowstorm all happening at once... This place is actually really dangerous if you stop to think about it. I don't think it'd really surprise me either.

Maybe. It's weird, everybody on my team's ended up either following along for their own reasons or I've gotten them from eggs. It never stops surprising me how little difference there really can be sometimes between us and them.

There was that, too. There was a viral outbreak or something before that. People started getting weird powers and kinda turning partly into pokémon. It was after the weird mix of thunderstorms, snow, and heat-flashes all in the same period of weeks. We've had a lot of disasters, but at the same time there never seems to be much actual damage from them, huh?
