Is there a reason why the combination of the Normal and Flying types is so popular? I'd swear I've seen a few species of them everywhere between here and New Bark Town. Even the poisonous bugs aren't nearly that common.

[He's definitely not asking that because said Normal/Flying combo just kicked his ass. Nope.]

Easy they might be, but so are Caterpies. Replacing that Noctowl with a Butterfree would have brought some variety to that team, though I guess it would have ruined the bird theme.

I was trying to, at least. We ran into a few difficulties.

A little too tough right off the bat.. well, flying types, right? I know that ice and electric types are good to use against them. Rock too, if you have a Pokemon with rock moves.

...Stumbly knows Rollout, but that's pretty much it for those types. I was hoping that Dark Hound's neutral Fire-type attacks and slightly higher level would do the job, but it wasn't enough.

Rollout inflicts damage over five turns, doubling in power for each consecutive hit. The power will reset after five turns or if Rollout is interrupted. The power of Rollout is also doubled if Defense Curl has been used previously by the Pokémon and the user has remained in battle since then.

Huh, he knows Defense Curl too. I could try that. ...Wait, if he's rolling on the ground what's stopping them from just flying up to avoid the attack?

He might be able to bounce up after the bird? I'd say practice the technique a few times, just to see what it does.

The skies would look pretty empty, too. Maybe they wouldn't even have planes, without birds to inspire them.

It would all depend on how big the world is~! Boats wouldn't be so bad if it was smaller...

The Earth is pretty big, if you ask me. And prone to hurricanes and other deathtraps for baots of all sizes.

There isn't any pure Flying Types. So all the 'generic' ones are Normal types too.

That would explain a lot, even if it doesn't sound fair. I was starting to wonder why every single one of my birds was also a Normal-type.

It has its goods and bads to it. It means they aren't resistant to fighting types, but Ghosts can't touch them.

But yeah, totes unfair.

And which are the most common, Ghost- or Fighting-types? Because if there's one ghost for every fighter, even that advantage is useless.

More complicated than that.

Normal-Type and Ghost-Type can't touch each other, but even if a Fighting typ does effective damage a Flying still does better damage back.

When I was young there were only three Ghost Pokemon, I hope the number hasn't gone up too much! That'd be cruel...

I can already tell you that it has. There was a ghost invasion for Halloween, and I've seen almost a dozen species at that time.

Well, I can still say there are probably more Fighting Types than that! Since there are four times as many Pokemon as there used to be. There have to be more fighters too!
