[For about a minute, the air is filled with the cries and noises of a small army of Pokémon. Singing birds, chittering rodents, with laughter and crashes mixed in every so often- uh, that sounded like Ember. Oh dear.]

...How do you know you're training too many of these things?

I'll try, but that won't be easy. She's already a headstrong little thing, even if she's the weakest member of the team.

The weakest in strength, I presume? It would not take her long at all to change that status. [ Cracking a smile at that. ] I suspect you will have more trouble than you originally thought in that case. Willpower is not an easy thing to overcome.

The weakest in levels, which I suspect means much the same. But with the way she demands training time, she'll be at the top of the list before the rest of them know it. Would that be willpower, or stubbornness?

One must have an incredible will to surpass levels that quickly. That is what I believe to be the truth, at least.

An incredible will and a taste for ladybugs, I'd say. She won't leave any alone, even if we're almost done for the day.

It always struck me as odd how vibrant their personalities can be. Almost as though they were on the same emotional capacity as a human, perhaps even further.

Although I wonder how she will act when winter comes upon this land.

They do seem more human-like in spirit than the horses we used to have. I thought it might be because they're small enough to spend more time with us, but considering the size of some I've seen on the network... I'm guessing the bugs don't like to show themselves when it's cold?

That is right. Although I suspect there are parts of this realm that may be warm when others are cold.

Horses though? Do you ride horseback?

There would have to be, if that world is anything like mine.

Ah, yes. Not seriously or professionally, but our home had horses when I was younger. Are there any horses here?

Not quite the ordinary ones. There is a Pokemon by the name of Ponyta that starts off as a pony, but can evolve into a horse. But there are a large variety of Pokemon you could choose to ride if that is not to your liking.

I have some spare Ponyta eggs if you find yourself ever in need of one, although you might find another Pokemon you might choose to ride through the Breeding Centre instead. Well, once your hands are not full as is.

Eggs? You're one of those breeders, then? A horse coming out of an egg is almost too weird for me to imagine. How big would an egg have to be to hold a pony, anyway?

[ Laughing nervously. ] Surprisingly they are the same size as the others. I have since given up on trying to make sense of this world and it's 'logic'.

...I'd be sadly mistaking if I started hoping that they merely grow very fast, right? The poor things have to be horribly uncomfortable in there.

Each Pokemon is different. I have seen runts take their time and others grow rather quickly.

Although I have been doing this for over a year, so my experience may not be the average of this world.

But not, say, from egg-sized to horse-sized within a few hours? ...Then again, for all I know that could be how it works for certain species. Your year would certainly have taught you more about that than my ten days.

It could happen. Although I try to not let it... get to me.

This world has many, many strange occurrences.

Starting with our arrivals and the omnipresent music?

Not fond of "MOM" are you? [ It's meant to be a jest, but she can't ever sound as though she's making a joke in her serious tone. ] Among other things, yes.

I already have one, and she wouldn't lock me out of the house so brutally. Does she really treat everyone who arrives that way?

Yes, it is 'scripted' to be that way or so I hear. Such terms are unfamiliar to me.

[ Not that Saber knows. She never got to be with her mother, so the topic leaves her sour. ]

Perhaps it is for best that she does. Who would wish to remain there after they have arrived?

'Scripted'? Everyone does compare this world to a game... But it'd be nice if the option was offered to kids, at least. For some of them, this whole situation has to be scary.

There is a house here that takes in children. A couple of them in fact.

Children are well protected in this place should they ask for it.

There is? That's good to hear. Are they advertised? How can children reach them when they arrive?

I am afraid I do not know.

However, there are many of us who keep an eye out over the PokeGear. Should we receive a message from one who appears to be a child, there are those who keep up with them to ensure the best.

[ Saber doesn't look much older than a child herself, but the way she speaks indicates she has adult experiences backing her every word. ]

I should do that, too. I'm not that good with kids, but since I'm still in Cherrygrove I can at least meet up with them on the road if the weather is bad or they're scared.
