After spending three years as a bird, I can't pick much else. Besides, I think Regal would be disappointed if I didn't pick that.

That sort of bias is acceptable enough. It'd be nice if we had people who spent three years as cats and dogs around to compare experiences, though.

Yeah, well... I had a cat when I was living as a human, but having a pet bird wasn't really an option. And it depends on the kind of bird, and even the species. Like for example, I've never met a golden eagle I've liked.

...What's the difference between a plain old eagle and a golden eagle? Don't tell me it's the color of their feathers.

There's no such thing as a 'regular eagle'. Eagles are a classification of a bunch of similar members of the family Accipitridae - and if you think of a diurnal bird of prey and it's not a falcon, osprey, secretarybird, caracara, or 'New World' vulture, that's probably the scientific family you're thinking of. It includes hawks, eagles, buzzards, harriers, kites and 'Old World' vultures.

[Time to get confused and futuristic.]

...I'm pretty sure a good few of those species disappeared hundreds of years ago. And they're all... something resembling distant cousins?

Something like that. I mean... technically every animal on Earth is a distant cousin, but yeah. For instance, a red-tailed hawk, which is what I am at home, is Buteo jamaicensis, before we get into subspecies. Golden eagles are Aquila chrysaetos, and it's not until you go up to family that we share a common classification.

...We never did spend that much time on taxonomy back in school. Do you think that could be applied to Pokémon species too, somehow?

Maybe? I wouldn't know enough about it, I'd have to research. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there's something similar.

There has to be. How else would breeders know which species are compatible and which are not?

... Okay, you tell me how a cat and a whale can have eggs.

I think there are some things mortal minds were not meant to know.

Asking the immortal minds to figure it out for us instead would be unspeakably cruel, if you ask me.

Honestly I can think of one immortal mind that might have a grasp on it, but he can also bend time and space so... who knows?

That's an advantage most minds don't have, as far as I'm aware. Did he do anything to deserve having to figure it out?

... Well, he's been helpful, but I think he'd take it as a challenge. He has his 'game' he plays with Crayak, so I guess he likes puzzles and strategy and that kind of stuff.

[And now he's wondering what kind of Pokemon he'd train...]

You need strategy to win fair Pokémon battles, and everything about breeding is a puzzle. Guess he'd be happy as either a trainer or a breeder.

I guess so. I actually don't know that much about him. He's one of those kinds of near-omnipotent forces that pops in, does a few things, and then disappears.

...That sounds a lot like Arceus' behavior last year, you know. Maybe they'd get along?

Maybe. I guess he's pretty much like a god. He'd probably like Arceus, actually...

And is that a meeting that should be facilitated, or blocked at all costs?
