...Hey, can anyone actually hear this...?

[At this point it wouldn't surprise him at all if the answer was 'no', but it's not like it hurts to try, right?]

There's a room with a star chart projected on the walls on the second floor. But the stars on it are completely unfamiliar to me. Has anyone seen any constellations they know in there? From home or from Johto? It might help us figure out where we are, even if not how we got here in the first place.

[Or not, but he refuses to be such a defeatist so quickly.

Which is why he's still in that room, poring over all those little glowy dots and trying to find a sign of home in there. It's not going very well.]

[Star charts, you say? Dear god how had Faize missed this room? Probably because he was too preoccupied with trying to fix up a sword he found in the armory. It was surprisingly difficult, even with his expertise in swords.]

Where is this room? I'm on the second floor currently but haven't come across it myself. A bit distracted by the armory, I must admit.

It's the small room right in front of that, next to the blue glowing door. The door's unlocked.

Yes, that's the one. Unfortunately rust seems to be an unavoidable issue. Not to mention dulled edges. But I've done what I can with it and something is better than nothing in this situation

[And even a rusty blade is better than a broken bit of table or banister.]

But I remember the blue door. I will be over there shortly to have a look.

You really think star charts will help us, though? I haven't seen that room yet, but the thought never crossed my mind.

As long as you know how to use them. I think I'd be more likely to hurt myself with a sword than any monsters in my way.

That's a little surprising, but who would I be to complain about a potential advantage in the middle of this insanity?

Maybe, maybe not. But how will we know if we don't at least attempt to make sense of them? I don't recognize any of those, though.

[There's a small chuckle on the other end.]

Fortunately, I know my way around a sword. I can't speak to anything else in here though.

[And with that, there's a click as Faize puts his Pokégear away and makes is way to the Star Chamber. It takes about five minutes, but eventually the door creaks open to reveal the young, pointy-eared alien boy. His eyes widen as he looks around the room, almost seeming briefly enraptured by the sight.]

Goodness...

True. There could always be some kind of clue, like a north star...

[Heh. Now he's gotta check it out.]

So, where is this room, anyway? I haven't made it too far yet. Too busy scoping out the room behind that blue door.

I didn't look for long, but I didn't see anything I recognized.

[A very slight hint of annoyance unrelated to Ash, because where the hell is the pink door!?]

I haven't check that room yet, but that lead might work. If it doesn't, we can cross it off the list.

[Unfortunately, stars aren't Atsuro's main interest or he knows a lot about them...]

Good to know at least one of us is likely to get out of here in one piece.

[Faize might have to be careful, though, because there's a man lying on the floor and looking up at the ceiling. At least the arm he's raising to point at a particular star should be easily visible.]

Not quite as impressive as the real sky, but it still makes you want to just stay here and watch, doesn't it?

Or maybe a Milotic constellation that any local star-watcher could easily recognize.

[Or Mars. Seeing that one would almost be a relief, for once.]

It's in front of the armory, between the blue door and that little passageway. Found anything interesting in the room?

Me neither. I managed to find a whole armory and even a secret passage around there, but not even a tiny little familiar star. I'd be frustrated if the room wasn't so pretty.

Everyone who heard this was already in the castle. Looks like we're cut off from the outside world.

[Which is actually kinda alarming, if he thinks about it too long.]

If nothing else, we'll get a few moments of peace and quiet in there. It's surprisingly pleasant, considering the rest of the building.

Oh, plenty. The whole place is packed with rickety, old machines.

[There's a sharp creak as Riku says this-- he may have just... tried spinning a wheel of some kind.]

Stuff's coated in rust, though. I doubt even polishing it would get it functional again.

[But there has to be something important in here. Why else would it have that same mark as the one on his glove? Maybe it's time to dig through some drawers while he waits for a reply.]

[Fortunately, he did notice the arm before he managed to step on or trip over Ash or something equally as Not Good.]

Yes, it does. [He glances over at the crystal responsible for the projection briefly before walking over to one of the walls to examine the stars themselves.]

And you said you saw nothing at all that you recognized, correct?

[While GLaDOS didn't manage to catch the broadcast - she's been a bit too worked up to really look at the device lately, what with all the insanity and the monsters and all - that room with all the star charts does manage to catch her attention. For once, she isn't bothered that she won't be alone, left to do her own thing; as much as she normally wants that, her time here is more than enough to set her on edge. She'd run into some people she knew by now, of course, but they were hardly inseparable; it's almost a relief, in some way, to see someone else in here.

Not that she'll be talkative right away; she's a bit too busy poring over those charts herself. But...]

Please tell me you recognize some of this.

Absolutely nothing. And believe me, I've seen my world's constellations from all angles often enough to recognize them all.

[He tries to trace a few between the dots he can see, but the match is apparently bad enough for him to drop his arm with a sigh.]

Yeah, anything that makes that sort of noise is just waiting for the day it crumbles to dust. Still, I'd keep looking if I were you. The room with the pink door turned out to be more useful than it looks.

I wish. I see no familiar constellations in there, not even Mars or Venus or any other celestial body I recognize. I could almost think they just placed the dots at random.

[And yet that doesn't stop him from just lying there, looking up at the ceiling and tracing imaginary lines between unknown stars. The last few days have been rough; now that he's found AGE-FX, staying in one place and resting a little sounds good.]

I found the armory already, but where's the secret passage? I didn't see anything.

You're a space explorer of some sort then, I take it? [His eyes never leave the wall, roaming higher and higher as he searches for something, anything recognizable. From any of the star systems he's been to at all! Come on room, work with him, here.]

Just a pilot and captain; we don't really have the time to explore, these days. But we still have time to just watch, once in a while.

[Like now. He's quite content where he is at the moment, though he knows that this room might not be so safe by nightfall.]

Right between this room and all the weapons. They must have thought we'd be too distracted by the possibility of self-defense to find it.

[Whoever 'they' might be, if there's even a 'they' at all.]

[That actually gets Faize to look back over his shoulder at Ash, his eyebrows raise in a bemused sort of expression.]

'Just' a captain? I think perhaps you are selling yourself a bit short there. That's quite an accomplishment, at least where I come from. [He turns his attention back to the wall, taking a few steps to his left.]

If not exploration, what then?
