[That... was obviously the wrong thing to say, because the sobbing now gains in intensity.]

Look, just because I'm not desperate enough doesn't mean- Bouncy, turn that off.

[And turn that off, Bouncy does, just in time to spare the network an atrocious wail.]

She asked me out for coffee. I... let her down a lot more harshly than I'd intended.

I have never heard a lady cry so hard over such a situation. What did you say?

I told that even if I wasn't married I wouldn't look twice at her, and that she's so far from my type I couldn't pretend to be interested in her words for half an hour.

...She had no way of knowing, and I never intended to tell her. I was going excuse myself with a busy training schedule or a pressing errand, but my thoughts just... poured out.

[He's still not quite sure how that happened.]

Against your will? (She has been feeling...strange...today.) I have been saying harsh things to my Pokémon too.

Maybe someone dropped a batch of advanced truth serum in the regions' water supply.

Yes. I try to keep those thoughts to myself. They are...depressing.

(As well as self-deprecating.)

Does such a serum exist?

There are chemicals that influence our thought processes enough to make lying more difficult. But their other effects would be impossible to miss, unless this world has a formula superior to those found in mine.

[Or a Pokémon that can replicate the effect. He frowns at that thought.]

I admit that frightens me. I do not like being controlled by anyone. (Ever.) Whoever is responsible should be held accountable.

They will be, if we ever find them. But that's always the most difficult part, isn't it? Unless some legendary Pokémon pops up to claim responsibility.

I will do all that I can regardless. My birds can keep an eye on this area from the sky.

I have a few of my own that can keep an eye on Fuchsia. Along with a pair of Psychic-types to look out for any signs of mental interference.

That will have to do for the time being. I will keep to myself today and hope the effects pass.

I'd suggest doing that next Friday too, to be safe. Last week was... embarrassing, for many.
